Abstract
This text is an approach to the theoretical debate regarding two models of agriculture: peasant and indigenous family farming and capitalist market industrial agriculture; the main objective is to identify, analyze, and reflect on the fundamental characteristics of each model in order to make visible and value the importance of the peasant and indigenous family farming model as an alternative socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental system oriented towards the reproduction of life; beyond the reproduction of capital proposed and promoted by the capitalist market industrial agriculture model. Knowledge, analysis, and reflection regarding each of the two agricultural models offer us the possibility to rethink and redefine the practices of capitalist industrial agriculture and its adverse socioeconomic effects; it is an invitation to adopt fairer and environmentally healthy agricultural practices.
